Despite almost 20 years of hard work to end the re-victimization of battered women who find themselves caught up in the criminal legal system as defendants, the problems that led to the establishment of the National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women are still painfully present. The demand for services to address pressing issues faced by battered women charged with crimes, and by those who assist them, continues to grow, and the challenges they encounter have become more complex.

We count on people like you to support our work on behalf of battered women who end up in conflict with the law. We hope you'll consider making a donation. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Commemorative Poster
For the 10th Anniversary of the National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women, we created a commemorative poster featuring a painting by the Philadelphia-based artist, Sara Steele, and a quote from Alice Walker. These posters are now available for the reduced price of $5 (plus shipping & handling). They are very beautiful and make great gifts. If you don't already have one, you might want to get one now.

Jobs
At this time, there are no job openings at the National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women.  Because we are such a small organization, we do not often have positions available.  However, when there are job openings, we post information here and on idealist.org and craigslist.org.

Student Employment and Internships
The National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women occasionally hires undergraduate, graduate, and/or law students.  Students typically work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer months.  Whenever possible, we hire students who come with full or partial funding, either through work study or another source.  We post job announcements with many of the colleges and universities in and around Philadelphia, as well as here.
